Ok i found a fellow reefer who has a Red Sea Wave maker for sale. He wants 100 $ for it. Does anyone have any experience using this wave maker? Also do you need special pumps for them? Ive heard that normal Koralia's aren't made to be switched on and off like that?

Maxijets will work. Hydor Koralias will not. They make a horrible clicking noise when turning on and off. Sometimes, they'll even run backwards

Didn't Hydor fix that problem with the newer Koralias?

The new Koralias work completely different. They never shut down. They go to barely spinning but they are still running. It's actually a pretty neat system. However, they only work with Hydor's wavemaker...they won't work with the Red Sea system.

Your thinking of the 12v Koralias that only work with the Koralia wave maker.

I have a Red Sea Wave Maker Pro running with 4 Evo 750s and they run perfectly. The new Koralias (Evos) are designed differently than the older Koralias (#1, #2, etc..) and will work with a wave maker without issues.

If you are going to invest the money to get the Wave Maker Pro, than do yourself a favor and don't use Maxi-jets. They put out a narrow high velocity stream of water that is not natural feeling to the tank's inhabitants. The Evos are the way to go if you are going with the Wave Maker Pro.
