red slime algae

    siphon it out with a airline hose.

    use chemi-clean followed by massive water changes.

    I would, increase water changes, w/ RO water if not using already. Main points are... Increased flow, esp on sand bed, increase alkalinity and pH kalkwasser is great for this. Use fresh carbon and heavy skimming, not a Seaclone 150 :). Decrease feeding, eliminate flake food if using, add blue leg DWARF crabs and lastly ozone. And if these all fail or don't work up to what you'd like/expect THEN try the Chemi Clean....You need to get to the bottom of the problem not just put on a band aid.


    Good luck and don't worry, we've all faced it and have beaten it. Its not like Mike Tyson in Punch Out ;-)

    You can try Florida cerith snails as well. I just got a mess of them to help my tank out.
