I've had a bad case of that, but i didnt add anything to get rid of it. i did a couple water changes, got a little extra flow in the area, and got my nitrates under control. and it cleared right up.

Ultra life red slime remover works really good I used it one time like you said just to finish the red stuff off and it worked perfectly. All of my water parameters were testing perfect so to be sure I brought some water to my LFS and had the owner of the store run the tests for me and they came out perfect. So I bought that stuff on his reccomendation and I used a little less than the reccomended dose with great results I havent seen any red stuff since.

Remember to shut down your skimmer for a few days for some reason that stuff makes it go crazy for a couple days. Good Luck Let me know how you make out.

I had an outrageous Cyano problem a few months back.
As others have recommended extra flow is probably needed, for me the problem went away within about 10 days.

I've got a 24g nano running Hydor koralia 1 + HD 2 and the original pump.

I liked the idea of those crazy Vortech getups but they are sooo dear (especially in UK)

Vacuuming and water changes always worked best for me during cyno outbreaks. :-/
