cyano is the red stuff and pineapple sponges are the white fuzzy things. Cyano is due to alot of things, tap water, high nutrients, low flow, but most tanks have it from 2-6 months after getting wet and can normally resolve itelf, syphon off what you can and make sure you're using RODI water. Pineapple sponges are similar, they should go away on their own, but controlling feeding or excessive feeding is a good idea to help, they're just ugly, but not nnecessarily bad, cyano can become an issue though, so read up on it;)

Thanks I will definitely read up on the cyano... my tank has always had RODI water & I've been told I have good flow.. however it is only 6-8 mnths old & I've been battling a nitrate problem. So probably another thing that loves to grow along with other algaes that come with higher nitrates... Ughh!

So I don't think the red stuff is Cyano... I do have traces of cyano however this I think is red bubble algae.... my tank is not even a year old yet so I know its just a case of the so called uglies.. so I will just jeep up the battle until I win! :)
