red stuff on rocks- algae?

    I am wondering what this red stuff growing on my rock is, is it algae? bad algae? or good algae like coraline? thanks

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    If it's slimmy to the touch comes off easily than it's cyanobacteria and that is what it looks like to me.

    It does look like cyano but I've seen some coralline that color as well as red sponges grow like that...

    it's a new tank but the rock was established, it has just started growing red almost purple- is Cyano bad? and how do I get rid of it?

    Yup cyano. Siphon it off during water changes and keep your nutrients down. Make sure your alk is above 9dKH and increase your flow rate. Clean your filtration thoroughly to remove all detritus. Increase your clean up crew.
