All day today my tank looked quite normal. I looked at it awhile ago and the water looked somewhat red, I didnt think anything of it and thought it was my eyes just messing with me. But it took a second look at it through the side and there is a definite red tint to the water.

    Any ideas?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    A spawning event?

    Any small particles present?

    Fish and inverts looked stressed?

Fish and inverts all look fine, Corals all seem fine. However, im seeing no PE on my ponape birdsnest, another unknown sps, and my hammer is closed up. everything else is normal. no free floating particles. im gonna do a 5 gallon water change and change the carbon for now. I have also adjusted my skimmer to skim wet.

this is crazy the skimmer is pulling pink water. I did the water change and it obviously looks better. changed the carbon so hopefully that will pull anything out of the water. Im just going to keep up on the water changes/carbon/skimmer combo and wait it out. Unless anyone has any other ideas.

That's what I was thinking. There are some red algae though, and are not necessarily toxic. Carbon and water changes sound like a good plan.

One on the way, but no kids at this time. no one else was in the house yesterday, other than when my wife left for work at like 5:00 am and i noticed the red at about 5:00 pm or so.

Yeah, I read about a smilar issue with a guy on another forum. Water changes and carbon are what cleared his up. everyone on that forum figured it was an outbreak of some sort of free float algae that happened to be red.

Did you say you had a kid on the way? Did you say your wife was there? How much time do you spend with your tank? Just sayin
