    I saw that thread. No, this is something totally different.

    Detatched a few weeks ago and was sucked into a powerhead, but not all was lost.
    The frag peices are regrowing fast. They have gone from 1/8 to 1.5" already and now instead of 1 I will have several. LOL, lucky me.

    Yea, this is jelly-like. The fragged pieces are growing like crazy. I should have 3-4 like the thread starter in no time. I sent a bunch of the frags to different folks and only a few have been regrowing. Others melted in the new tanks a week later. Guess water parameters have something to do with its growth. Never thought of fragging it up. Guess I thought it was delicate and I would loose it.

    They have no idea what it is and is growing near a powerhead on the top, so I know it likes medium to high current. Very beautiful species of algae. I'm gonna ask if he could let me have a batch for a new fuge I'm starting.

    That's Nemastomataceae. Want to see it when it gets real big?

    There's not much online about it....you have to buy an algae book (and not one for aquarists....one for scientists).

    The Nemastomataceae family only has two species as far as I know;

    Nemastoma
    Predaea

    Since I didn't know which species it was, I just said Nemastomataceae but I made a mistake. I should have said Nemastomataceae spp to indicate I didn't know which species it was. My bad. :-[
