Interesting, I guess if you wanted a pair, that would be the place to go. I know Vivid Aquariums, could also get a female as well.

Trying to add a "female" once you have a male established isn't something I'd recommend for the wrasse novice.

Things sold as "female" are often a sub-dominant male.

I have a female wrasse in my tank...I know this because of the color variations between that species males and females. Been in there for almost 5 months (without a male), and I haven't seen any changes...yet!

A local store has a pyle's fairy wrasse for $20... looks like this one:

They said it is a female, but I don't know for sure, and have no way to tell... was thinking of getting it... anyone know about these?

If I got this one and picked up a male fairy wrasse of another species later, would this be ok?

Eh, boarderline, looks like a sub-dominant male to me. Females don't have long pectoral fins.

That being said, unless you already have a male Pylei, it won't matter. They're also one of the Cirrhilabrus that tend to tolerate other males in the tank if the tank is big enough.

It's a good price, regardless. He'll get more colorful if you have other Cirrhilabrus species in the tank.

How big is the tank btw? The 120 I see in your sig?

You changed your picture on me!

That one is female; the first one was not.

Diver's Den puts up red velvets quite often. I'd wait for them to put one up, versus buying from LA. DD fish tend to be healthier, eating well, etc.
