thats not a picture of a red velvet wrasse. they are using another of the Cirrhilabrus family. :( i have been searching the web for a picture an came up with nothing. was hoping someone had a pair in their tank. i have never even seen what a female looks like in my search

From the research I've done, the female looks just like the male but with much paler color in comparison. Not 100% sure though.

Females are rarely collected of that species because their coloring is horribly pale. Pretty much the same as the male though.

:) I have a Super Male Red Velvet, I love him, Quite Hardy and a great fish. *points to avatar* :D.

I agree with KC and RedGambit. Females are just pale, and will be hard to find as they generally are not intentionally collected.

thanks. i did get my male from divers den would love to get a female. when the male flashes its amazing to see. has yours flashed yet? i have only seen it once :(
only thing i worry about with adding a female is will he become really aggressive. and go after my other fish.

If flashing is all you're after, you could add a male of another fairy wrasse species (anything but another red velvet).
