I posted a reply to another post, but I wanted to ask this question and get it out there.

What is redox? Why don't we talk about it on this site? What is the difference between adding the Thiel Redox + and hydrogen peroxide or other oxydation type chemicals like they use on fresh water ponds etc?

    and?

Does anybody use oxidizers to remove algae or control the organics that allow algae to grow?

If I have a tank that is high in nitrates, but the protein skimmer isn't getting enough of the DOCs out of the water, will the oxidizer help?

My tank was overgrown with hair algae and I added an oxidizer. I started geting bubbles from the live rock where the oxidizer landed and then the dead stuff started floating. Isn't that good?

Why don't we hear more about oxidizers in the tank? It sounds like it's a good thing to use if suddenly a fish dies, or we loose control with detris problems.

Does anybody subscribe to this type of thinking?
