That's a monster, can't wait to see it up and running. I think I will always be able to use this tank as an excuse when discussing tank cost with my wife..."My tank doesn't run us much monthly, there is this bruh on 3reef with a 1000 gallon system that cost like 10 times mine to run" lol. good luck with the build

Thanks map. I would be honored to used as an example for a monthly cost so you can perhaps maybe upgrade and explain to the wifey its not that much.

    just a curiosity ?... with those dimensions isn't the tank closer to 500 gallons. Becuase I have a 240 gallon that is 96 x 24 x 24.

But again, crunch the numbers. Closed loops do not save money. They have some advantages, some folks like them hiden, some don't like PHs... I get it. But they do not cost less to run or to buy. One OM cost as much as a Vortech... we have been comparing to Vortechs... but if we are talking korillias, then ya, definitely not cheaper after buying pump, plumbing, gagets to direct flow, and power use. Does not mean people will not choose to run them.. I'm just saying...

It is hard to find examples of tanks running only closed loop, and if they are, they are generally pretty elaborate. Lots of closed loops I see end up supplementing with power heads.

You spoiled the surprise. I didn't want to reveal that until I officially had it on the stand with the sump placed under the tank. The tank will be slightly over 475 gallons. The calculations place it at 478.7532467532468 gallons. And with the sump running the tank at 112.2077922077299 makes my total volume at 590. 9610389609767 gallons. Now the cat is out of the bad.

Thank You Bruh, I too am LMAO. Great response. I was just wondering and kind of figured you were including the gallonage of the sump in there. As I call my nano tank a 55 even though it is a 50g bowfront with 2.5g in the overhand trickle plus another 2g in the HOB skimmer. And my 240g tank I call a 350g as it is a 240 rectangular tank with 55g sump + 55 refuge.

Was this particular tank the one you planned this upgrade around? Great dimensions and i can't wait to see what you do with it!
