I did a 1" foam board between my tank and stand. As mentioned, I wouldn't put anything between the floor and stand. As for your water changes.....I have been told that the larger the volume, the longer you can go between water changes. Being my tank is still in production I can't speak from experience, but the tanks I personally admire around here don't do weekly water changes, or even monthly. 4-6 months with 20-30 %. Those tanks house all varieties of corals, and many large fish. They always look great, and everything is healthy. If your plan is daily to weekly, I'd recommend looking into a 300g holding tank, and a 100g mixing tank, and some pumps to move your water around. Plumb everything as needed, that way you don't have to ever lift a gallon of water, just the bags of salt you measure into your mixing tank.

So make the RO/DI holding tank bigger than the saltwater mixing tank?

The holding tank would be for your salt water. I was assuming you could use the mix tank for your rodi fill, mix the desired salt, and then transfer it all to your holding tank. For something that large you're doing an ATO for your rodi top off right?

Yes I will definitely be doing an auto top off. I just have to boost up my RO/DI unit maybe double it.

Well I finished the floor. After following with the primer and sealant, I used this product.

I don't know if you can see the difference but here is the before:

Going home Thursday to handle some personal business. If money is left over the stand will be built. I maybe move the tank into the house.

You will LOVE these! Hit me up if ya want any tips on testing. I have it down to a science ;)

Your build is looking great so far, maybe I'll run a pipe from my tank into yours. I could always use an extra 700 gallons ;)

Thanks. Extra water volume is always good. Gonna be one heck of a water change for you to perform. Especially when it's bigger than your own tank volume.

Quick question. Where do I get the small funnel for the phosphate tester. I was told that if I don't get all the regent out it could skew the test results.

See that's the great thing, since I'm plumbed into your tank you get to do the water changes. ;)

There's no funnel needed, just tap the reagent into one corner and rip the adjacent corners forming a V.

I'll be testing water in a few I'll post step by step pictures. I can open, fill and cap in under 12 seconds. (I test every other day)

I will put a gate valve on your side so that you won't get to use to much water.

I did that method when I conducted my first few tests. They pretty much came out the same results. I just don't want my readings to fluctuate. I also didn't know there was a speed test to get the regent into the cuvet. lololol
