So just a brush clean and not a deep clean if I am hearing you correctly.

exactly...though I do dig deep in a couple of corners...I have two in particular that seem to trap junk...and try as I might, I just cant get the right flow into them to prevent that...basically a couple of small dead spots...so I go gang busters in those two corners when I clean...and loose a little sand each time...I am okay with that....:) But correct, over 95% of the tank...it is just a quick brush with the vacue to pick up any random junk and keep it looking nice and clean.

Thanks again. I will keep that in mind. What little mind I will have left after this build is finished.

Don't know yet. I don't know if its the order I'm doing this build or miscalculated. It's been moved to maybe March/April. I have more planning or research.

It would be an honor to know you did a scaled up version of my tank. One of the best things I have learned here on 3reef and I pass it along to fellow reefers and reefettes is to go slow and let it grow.

It still hurts that your build has stalled out after all the work and effort you put into it. Research has helped me a lot because first I know that anything could happen and second I don't want to join the ranks of those that had started a large tank build only to crash and burn. But if I can do this build that can fit my needs and be simple that's an accomplishment not only to me but because of the support here on this forum and the members.

Yeah, i'd caution against doing a deep clean in a marine setup. Not only are there good things living/growing in the sand that you may disturb but there's also a lot of nasties in it too. Sand acts like a sponge and soaks up a lot of stuff where the microbes prob go to town on it. Problem is if you disturb it to much then you release it all into the water column. Fairly positive transferring all the sand from one tank to a new one was 1 of the factors that led to my last crash. Granted it wasn't the only one but still...

Why not go for sand sifting stars or sponges? They would/should do most of that work for you from my understanding.
