Not to side track you from building your stand but I've been reading up on these algae scrubbers. Haven't gotten one built yet myself, have to redo my plumbing first. Anyway you said you weren't going to try one because you had no clue how to build one and didn't think you would have room for one large enough for this sized tank right...? Well, from what I've been reading these are based more off the amount you feed and not the volume of water you have. So theoretically, if you fed 1 cube worth of food per day it wouldn't matter if it was in a nano or in a 300gal tank, the scrubber size requirement would remain the same. I'd imagine with a tank that size you'll eventually be feeding darn near a pack a day (lol)! So you'd probably need to go for a custom built enclosed version. Just some food for thought. That does peak my curiosity, how many fish do you think you might end up having?

At the most 100. Probably less as I want another school of Anthias, school of cardinals, and about 3 more tangs. I have to count and see how many fish I presently have now including in the QT.

    The Stand.......Almost

This is as far as I could get building the stand. My saw isn't big enough to cut the 2 x 8s. I didn't want to cut the board and flip it to match the previous cut. Not a good idea.

The rest will be fished hopefully Saturday. The baseboards will be completed then. Pics will follow.

The stand is finished and in place. Well, almost finished. I still have to water proof on the inside.

I will be using this product that is used as a waterproof membrane for showers. Thanks Shelby.

Got the baseboards finished. I used a PVC product. Here is a sample of what I used.

I just have to cover the nail holes.

Also the carpenter suggested a change to my stand to prevent the outer and inner 2 x 8s. Here's the additions.

Stand looks great. Nice job on getting posts beneath your beams. I like the cross bracing to keep the beams from twisting, but I might put a few more in there just to make sure. It's amazing how much force those 2x8's will put on the bottom of your tank if they start to twist.

With the length of those boards, and the weight on top, I was gonna suggest the same inner support. So now I guess I have nothing to add....(sigh)....:-/

LOL looking good so far buddy ;D Keep up the good Work......
