Well my tank renderings came back. Now I have to change how I'm going to place the sea swirls.

I can't recall, are you planning on going with Bean in those Calflo's?

So here is a thought, you could do two sea swirls in the middle opening, one angled to the left and one to the right.

You then could do one in each corner, which it appears that there is room for a return in each corner as well.

Total of 4. You could then do an MP 60 on each side and one 40 in the middle of back wall...I think that would give you lots of laminar flow, plus plenty of randomness with all the swirls...

Make sense? Am I totally not smelling what you are cooking?

More like a herbie since the sump has been designed for two 2" drains.

As for the sea swirls I was going to place 2 where you suggested and the other two on the opposite corners so that they are blowing towards the back. Then add the additional powerheads on the back wall but I didnt know how powerful I should go considering I am dealing with 48" of space. Would that work?

    And yes

The only thought I have on the sea swirls at the front of the tank--will those not be connected to your return? I just coudn't picture how you might plump them at the front of the tank. But, I think having flow from the front corners toward the back is a good idea--just a matter of figuring out the best tool to get it done.

Otherwise, with 48", I think you have a lot of room to play with as far as flow. I mean think about it, most tanks out there only about 48" wide and peeps have to a vortech on each side, but are only playing with 24" of depth too!

In otherwords, I think it may be hard to overdo the flow given your dimensions :).

What do you already have to work with as far as sea swirls/vortechs/power heads?

Don't know if this helps much but here is one of my seaswirls. Return comes up thru my overflow and around the bracing. The seaswirl is mounted about midway. They blow to the glass then to the back wall. [IMG]

Nice PUM. Bruh, something like this might work for you. You are going to have a canopy right? If so, you really have a lot of options based off the example PUM posted.

OK as stated before I will put 2 sea swirls between the external overflows. Then I will come from the outside of each overflow over the eurobrace to the corner. I hope you get the idea. I don't have the skills to draw the picture. Its pretty much like Pickupman's picture. The only powerheads that will be on the tank will be on the sides behind the rockwork and will average 2500 - 3000 gallons per hour. Your thoughts?

And thanks for the reference pic P.

If only the swirls would rotate 360!

The Moceans do but I heard that they aren't reliable.

    Water Change Hose

To make my water changes easier, would it be safe for me to use Marine, Boat, RV hose and attach it to a pump and place a shutoff valve on the end?
