First thing I would check is if the hose is safe for potable water use. garden hoses for example say right on the package that they are not (I think they have a little lead in them)....

If you get the RV hose that is safe for portable water. Yes it is safe. I would still cut the brass fittings off and replace them with the plastic ones. The brass fittings will corrode with the saltwater. I would also goto home depot not Lowe's to get it. Homer depot had the 50' hose where as Lowe's only had a 25' for about the same price.

Here are the specifics on the hose. The only thing I dont like is the nickel plated ends. But I can switch those out to plastic ends.

LOL.. Hey, I have used a standard garden hose a time or three. this past year I have done a few water changes since I am battling a nitrate issue. they were between 25 and 50 gallons. I simply stuck a submersible utility pump connected to my garden hose and pumped the sump. then gravity drained the hose and stuck it and the pump in my TOP off bin and pumped back into the sump (i had mixed the sw in that bin). my pump will drain it down to 1/8th of an inch so it works well. allows for a water change in like 10 minutes. the hose has brass ends, but since it was only in the water for a few minutes it doesnt hurt. but you can tell the salt got on it as it discolored in a few days.
