If you are using a bucket of salt and don't mix the entire bucket at once that can happen especially with the alk. As it gets moved around and especially vibrating in a vehicle separates some of the elements thus you get stronger or weaker alk with the same SG.

I mix the whole 200 gallon bag in my mixing container. It doesn't move.

Well hello everyone. Sorry for the latest but I think I know my problem but then again I don't know my problem. Here is my tank as it looks today.

You're probably or probably not wondering what happened? All I know is everything was going well and randomly I would wake up or come in from outside of town and I will have flesh coming off the skeleton or worse just bleached out. The only parameter that I'm fighting at the moment is potassium as I can't get it over 360ppms to save my life. Maybe I'm not ready for mari cultured corals or my tank is old enough. So far the only corals surviving are aquaculture or corals I got from other hobbyist tanks. I'm not going to quit but maybe take a different approach.

I plan on starting all over and use aquaculture frags and just sit back and watch them grow. I always thought adding frags to a tank my size was like giving a whale a tic tac. I guess patience will have to be the key this time. I'm on the crossroads as to either start the calcium reactor back up or just straight start Part A, B, C dosing.

    Sorry guys.

so sorry to hear about the corals reef! it sounds like you have a great attitude about it though - just take a different approach and not get discouraged! Unfortunately, I have deduced I am unable to keep sticks :( - I'm ok with that - there are many other beautiful corals in this hobby

True. My goal was to go sps dominant. Now maybe sps on layaway.

Sorry for the set back man. If your gonna start manual dosing then check out thrive. There products are super concentrated and I slowly made the switch from aquavitro within a months time and I'm very happy with the product. Since I've been dosing potassium my colors have improved a lot. Your tank is so impressive bruh, one day I will have a large set up.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Maricultured corals are difficult, I really try to avoid them when able. It's pretty common for maricultured to do well for about 2-3 weeks and then decline, you see this again and again in/on sps forums.

There are tons of tried and true aquacultured sps, you just have to usually start with a smaller piece and grow it out. You can get decent colonies from some vendors. If it says Aussie I steer clear.

Get some Acropora youngei (slimmer), any of the ORA's like Red or Green Planet, Joe the Coral, Torts......

You already know all this though.

It will be sps dominated, I have seen your past sps tank. This tank just needs to age and get dialed in. Get something easy and once it starts to take off then you know the tank is ready for those more delicate types.

Are you still using Zeo? If so, what Zeo stones and what gravel?
