Yes this is going to be one for the makings. My final and last shot. If it doesn't do well as a reef, I can always make it a shark or ray tank. Yea the guys at Rapid and Aquastyle both said that it was going to take 270 LED's to light the tank up and suggested 28x10 heat sinks. Didn't come with a pair of oaks but I did save some money by switching from Geico.

    Side 1 is Done, Sorta

I buffed the first side of the tank. I had to start with 600 grit and worked all the way up to 1200 grit. Now I have to buff it until it becomes clear.

    Three more sides to go.

Dude, including trips to the auto parts store that one side took about three to four hours. I started with 1000 grit sand paper, laughed at it. Then I moved down to 800 grit, it was like, "Is that all you got". Then after a couple passes with the 600 grit, that's all she wrote. Then I had to go back up to 800, then 1000, then 1200 before it was smooth. The next task is to buff it out and see the how good I did my work.

I used a car sander and my arms and back are hurting. Elbow grease is an understatement.

For what it's worth, I'm certified in Dupont, Diamont and PPG automotive refinishing, so from my experience you'll need to sand next with 2000 grit using water with a few drops of dish soap in it for lubricant. Use a hard rubber pad with the paper wrapped around it to prevent "finger grooves". It will almost start looking shiny. (if you hand sand with just the sandpaper and your fingers, you will end up with a "ripply" looking surface that will look terrible once buffed) After that get some 3m Perfect it 3000 polishing compound, and use an automotive variable speed buffer with a wool pad, followd by 3m "Finesse it" compound with a sponge pad. That acrylic will look like brand new. Any body shop supply will know what I'm talking about, and they may even have some other suggestions. If you already knew all that, never mind, but if you didn't, hope I helped! That's going to be a sweet tank!
