I would go with the option on the left. This would allow for better supplemental lighting placement if you end up adding some in. I know I will.

I might try little later putting the other side of cones in and see what the spread looks like in the middle maybe you can separate then heatsinks more to get more coverage to the outer edge. Another thing would be arranging them into just two long runs and raising it up a couple inches...or maybe both.

I have them spaced out 8 inches between the fixtures width wise, and 3 inches long ways.

I appreciate that but you don't have to. With that sketup is it pretty accurate assuming the right dimensions? I mean with light spread and everything else? I have them spaced out 8 inches between the fixtures width wise, and 3 inches long ways.

Yeah sketchup is normally very accurate as long as you are paying attention when your making the renders. I had my array all planned out and then when I set it up in sketchup realized it wasn't going to work at all and had to redesign it lol. The way I built yours there was 6 3/4 between front to back and 2 inches between length wise. The 8 inches will definitely help out with the spread front to back without causing a problem in the middle. I would definitely test it out though before actually hanging it over the aquarium though as that thing will be a pain to man handle above the tank only to find out you dont like the spread or something. Maybe lay it long ways on edge pointed at a wall and measure the spread at 12 inches a way and see if there's any gaps or anything.
