Ya, and as far as the 6-7, sounds good. You can always adjust. I did one daily, but for a larger system to do the same thing I was doing would require multiple times because of how the osmolator worked.

One big one a day is much easier to time with a pump. Any little MJ 600 or what ever will do and you just turn it on for one minute or 93 seconds or what ever.

So then you never have to adjust anything else... the ATO is just going to top off... you adjust your WC by how much time you run your waste pump.

With my thing, I did one gallon a day, and used those blue 7 gallon jugs... so my system just ran, and all I had to do is see my waste going up a g/day and my clean going down. What ever it is you work out, if it is something similar with what works for you, it is really easy to just glance at everything and know it is all working right. Then for me once a week I changed jugs and that was all there was to it.

One great thing is you never have to worry about WC water temp again. It's no concern with such small volumes.

Well thats something I have to figure out mathematically and test out before I perform that task. I wonder if I can perform that with a Profilux dosing pump?

Ya, it will take a little bit to get it all right, and know and trust it is working right. But when I finally was satisfied and turned it loose, I never gave it a second thought.

What do you want to use the Profilux for... waste or salt water addition?

All you need to keep in mind when setting this up is... use a pump that is rated for continuous duty if it is going to run a lot... a metering pump puts out very little, so if it is used to move a lot it will run more and wear out faster.

The waste pump does not need to be accurate at all. It just does not matter. Sure you want it to pump the same amount for 60 sec every time so you can do the math and figure out what the numbers are (mine was and ther eis no change in head pressure to mess it up)... but for the actual water change it is irrelevant. One water change you take out 230 ounces of water... the next 250 ounces... who cares... the ATO will put back exactly what was taken out... so it isn't harming the tank. And the salt pump is only going to turn off when it tops off....

So my salt reservoir... as the level went down, the pump had more net head to pump against and the pumps out put would go down accordingly... who cares? At the start of the jug the salt pump would run for 45 sec to top back off... when it was the last gallon it would take 75 second. So what... it still topped off back to the top off point, my level sensor.

Not everything in this hobby has to be high tech high dollar. :)

Powerman thanks for your input. I just got my apex in last week and I am still learning it. Could you post the code that you used for it. Its very confusing to me. Thanks!

I got the big boy for $480. From marine depot. Right now I have it on a 20 gal reef tank. This my first reef. But in the very near future I will be upgrading this to a 125 or larger in wall setup. Everything that I am getting will be for the larger system.

I just got standard temp and ph probe for now. The wife already killed me for spending that much on it.
