Exactly what the title says, I'm looking for anyones opinion on using these and the experience I had and any other information inbetween. I had a friend recently purchase these and I want some info before I do or don't purchase this product if it is worth it. I'm sure some of you have seen the product in Foster & Smith (at least that's where I swear I saw it last in the live aquaria catalog) but if not I'm sure it could be googled but I rather take the knowledge and words from fellow 3reef members rather than google =)

never used it myself but i am familiar with it. pods will feed on this which can promote the pod poulation. there are also testimonials as to people feeding reef bugs to baby seahorse.

the name of the product is misleading. when i think reef bugs, i think copepods/amphipods and such. this product is all about microbes and dead matter(detritus).

you get the same benefits when using phyto or everytime you scrape the glass.

    i wouldnt waste the money.

sounds like a better product would be DT's live phyto...depends on what your aim is...

like NU-2reef said, i believe reef bugs promote the growth of other creatures in your tank, which will eventually help feed your corals...

DT's is alive, with a 6 month shelf life i believe, Ive only been using it for a little, but a lot of people stick by it...Under microscopic studies, people have noted 3 seperate species of phytoplankton in DT's...(this was something i learned after a lengthy discussion with a guy who really knew his stuff)...after that i was convinced to try it...

i just wanted to say, if you thinking about purchasing reef bugs...def. put DT's in the mix too

ok i was just considering cause like i said a friend of mine bought it and wanted to try it and I think he purely bought it on a whim really but we'll see what he thinks I guess. I am a believer for DT's phtyo as I am on my second bottle now and I like the stuff =) I need to order some copepods soon tho for my nano tank and to start a bucket-o-pods...any suggestions on where to get a good deal on copepods?
