I'm curious as to what is happening. I was messaging a guy near me to buy live rock this weekend. I hope it is up by tomorrow night so I can get his number to call him. I wouldnt mind if they reset everything and started from scratch (as far as membership goes). A lot of people would be upset about losing their post counts, but there are more important things.

very bummed to see that site go down. couldn't believe the amount of information they had in a single thread about ASM skimmers (over 2000 posts!), and the local forums were really nice too. as a database it was amazing, but as a discussion forum it left a lot to be desired.

    Folks,

I was given information by someone who is "in the know" and as a result, I passed on that information. Now, that same person feels he was possibly fed incorrect information.

I have been trying to reach a couple of people who would know for sure what is going on. However, I've been unsuccessful thus far.

Rather than waste time on speculation and possibly pass on incorrect information, I'm going to temporarily close this thread until more accurate information can be collected.

Reef Central seems to be updating the message on their home page so you can get your updates from the source (which seems to be the "safest" thing to do when you consider that the rumor mill is unreliable).

What a nightmare. This happened to 3reef a couple years back and we were very fortunate that we did not lose any data. It was a valuable learning experience and I am sure I have some grey hairs to show for it. My empathies to RC and I do hope that they get everything restored as that would be a tremendous loss of knowledge and a major setback to this hobby.
