just ordered a bucket of reef crystals from fosterandsmith. i have been using plain instant ocean. my coralline doesnt seem to be doing so hot and im hoping that, as they claim, the increase in calcium/magnesium will help. anyone have anything to say about reef crystals?

I currently use IO salt ix & will be switching over to IO RC. I have seen(from fellow 3reefers) that it does have high mag & calc levels, which is great. The only thing I saw is I may suggest buying some mag supplement(dry base) to even out your mag vs. calc levels, as calc was a bit higher than mag(for what the two levels should be at).

I use Reef crystals and I like it a lot. I'm now waiting for the Red Sea Coral Pro salt... it's supposed to have the minerals more balanced for reef aquariums with high levels of mg, calcium and alkalinity!

I used to use it, and it works very well. I now use Red Sea Coral Pro. Mixes better and a little better levels form my SPS and clams. When I run out and need a WC, I still use Reef Crystals. Good stuff.

All i can say about RC is test every batch. The calcium and mag is never the same.

This can be an issue with any brand. Heck, the bottom of the bucket might mix different from the top of the bucket.

RC is the worst i have seen for this. You always have to add calcium and mag to every mix, or at least i did.

I have never had a problem with it. Had coralline algae in a brand new tank in less than a month. But that's just me.

I'm giving Reef Crystals a try. I've been using the IO and feel it's way better than Red Sea Coral Pro or any other salt mix. I'll follow-up with reviews in the future.
