I wana go with the 1000k, I dont see very many people with these. I am thinking about getting one because it say's you need no actinics to go along with them. IMO the whiter the better, I am just worried they will be yellow, but they says its crisp white. Do you think this is a good choice, or should I go with the more common 14000k? Oh, it's going to be a DE bulb. Not really sure if that matters or not.

Hey there fellow Texan!! I looked at alot of bulbs..I am building a new canopy now. Go to T and T on hwy 6 and bellaire and look at the different bulb colors he has. 10k is EXTREMELY white. Not that pleasing, and 20k is too blue for me. I went with 14k to be in the middle. However, all manufacturers can be slightly different...Ask Dingo, he is pretty knowledgable.

Its going to be a 250 watt DE, with an ice cap reflector. I still need to get a ballast for it as well.

Yea, I can get an icecap for 100 bucks. That's pretty cheap imo.

I'm a noob when it comes to that. I mean I know 6500k is daylight. But im concerned 1400k will be too blue. SPS need some blue (actinic)supplementation for max growth right?

yes... With those ballasts and a nice bulb you dont have to be as worried with the color temperature (k) as the aesthetics.
10k equals growth and a whiteish look
14k is usually a nice mix of white and blue (anywhere from icy white to a deeper blue hue depending on bulb)
20k when you look at your tank you see everything blue (has the slowest growth but makes colors pop the most)

Now you tell me what color you want and how concerned you are with growth and ill tell you what bulb to get

Alright, im still liking the 1000k, I would like the bulb to support everything from soft to sps. Do you think this bulb will be alright? its going to hangin over a 46 bow. Im getting a chiller so heat won't be an isse.
