Hey thinking about getting one of these in the future. Not sure exactly what it does. It controls the heater and lights and has a wave maker right? what else does it do and is it really worth like $100?

You can control your lights, fans or chiller, heater, pumps, powerheads on the wavemaker and have visible and audible alarms for overtemperature which can also shut the lights off until the temp cools to a point you select. It also does much more right out of the box I don't even remember. With additional modules and probes, up to 4 modules total which is the only real drawback for me since I am maxed out now. I control a calcium reactor with the pH probe, moonlights on a lunar cycle with the MLC module and pods. It could also work as an autotopoff or liquid level controller, have ccontacts to turn on lights under the stand when I open the doors, alarm if I have a leak, many many options I have not even explored.

The lite is a good starting point...but I went straight for the elite...running 5 power strips for all of the "stuff"...So far, excellent.

sounds good but I could actually afford the lite and the elite is like too much money for me to spend on something like this

az that sounds really cool might have to get one.

so my light already has built in moon lights on a different plug so will the reefkeeper control them?

Yeah, the RKL will preform a ton of functions right out of the box. I really recommend it. I have the RKL level 3 and I just love the heck out of it. I will probably be getting either another powerstrip or upgrading to the Elite here in the near future.

I would, but to get $100 off of the Elite you have to trade it in to them. Its a hell of a deal if you ask me.. I would just bite the bullet and go for it. I dont think you will regret it. Why I went ahead and got the Level 3 is because I knew I would regret not having 8 outlets, a PH probe, and the SL1 which will get hooked up to my electronic ATO(that they sell) when I get it.

IMHO, I would try and save for the level 3 for all the extra functions at a reduced cost per item unless you just want to use it for its simple functions such as timers and controllers. It is worth its weight in gold to me.

why not just sell to me for $100.00?;D And help a fellow hobbyist out it would be the same as trading it in you would just be giving me a great deal on a level 3.

Im not going to buy it new because its like $300.00 and I could buy new lights for that which I need more. SO I would have to save like $600.00 instead of like $400.00 and the only time I saved close to that much was for my bass amp and it took forever. Hopefully ill get a job this summer though. But still I want the level 3 for $100.00 be much easier for me and if you're trading it in for that much anyway
