How do you permantly kill an outlet until you manually come over and tell that outlet to turn back on?

For instance, how do you kill a float switch so it does oscillate up and down and turn the pump on/off in a high water scenario?

    You can't kill a switch.

Let me guess. This is a top off switch that is affected by the motion of your ocean and clicks the ato on and off? If so I would find a way to guard it from wave action. Unfortunately alarms will clear when they are below thresholds. You could use a timer function to slow it down.

high water float switch. So there is no way to kill the outlet that the return pump is plugged into until I manually turn it back on?

My other thought was to cut the power to the plug that the powerhead is plugged into the the highwater float triggers. But it too will turn on and off as the float moves up and down.

I don't know anything about the ReefKeeper, but, is there any chance of moving the ATO switch to the sump so that it isn't affected by water movement in the display? If the ATO switch is in the return pump area then it will only trigger when the water is low. Or, am I misunderstanding your setup?

Ok. So you need an alarm to activate a timer. This would give you several hours to remedy maybe. Let me think the programming thru.

I suppose this is possible. I am using this to cut the return pump when the water level in the display tank rises from a blockage in the siphon, loss of siphon etc.

I could set it up in the sump to cut the power when the water level drops in the sump....because that will happen when the display tank rises.

Which is the safer, more fool proof method?

That could work. How many hours can you kill it?

Well... for whatever a timer is set for I guess. I don't have that set up so I'm not sure. Let me see what can be done tonight.

I meant at a maximum. I'll play around with it tonight.
