Look at the Octo extreme 160. It's only $20 more than the SWC and it is a better comparison. The Octo 160 woul dbe worth the $20 with the new Sicce pump. I would not get the SWC because it has the old pump that can start backwards. Nothing wrong with the skimmer, just better choices now.

Well between the two the Octo extreme si a closer match to the SWC for comparison. The Octo EX has a nicer pump. The NW 150 will be a good skimmer... but if you were willing to pay for the SWC... for $20 more you would be much better off.

ok so if im spending the money on the octo. would the xtreme be better than the older style? I was asking because I really like the price of the NWB-150 and the reviews seem there but I dont want to have and upgrade the skimmer in the long run. the footprint dosent bither me because I have the room.

I use the reef octo standard in-sump line. Never had any issues and they work great, they take out grime like there's no tomorrow

BTW, if you do get the reef octo 150, call up wherever you are going to buy it and make sure they have it in stock as the manufacturer is out till roughly the 20th.

The Extreme has the new Sicce pumps. That is a good quality pump. Better than the 150. If you want cheaper then get a bubble Magus or a Vertex. There is cheaper, there is more expensive. There skimmers at every price point. But you wanted a comparison between the two and I assumed you were willing to pay that range. The /Octo Ex is a solid skimmer with a solid pump. Between the 150 and the SWC, it's the one I would get. In fact until SWC starts using the new Sicce pumps I would not even consider them.

I understand the sicce is better than the atman, but why do you believe the SWC skimmers without one are not worth anyone's time? I love my xtreme cone 160. Works well and is very consistent. never starts backwards or not at all. I like it and would recommend it to people.
