hellooo. I got a BH 100 for christmas, and its still kind of in the "breaking in" stage. Now the passed few days I've been having problems.. I turn the skimmer on, and no matter how high I set the collection cup, the water level rises until it its basically pouring into the cup.. If anyone has any experience with the same model, I'd really appreciate it.

sounds like typical problems with namy brands / types of HOB skimmers
    my BH1000F did similar

    certain things to double check

unplug skimmer, clamp the airline very tightly , plug back in
when water runs through and out of the overflow, gradually introduce the air

this helps to ensure you have a correct air to water ratio and that the pump is working properly before air is introduced

IME it takes a day or so and then the skimmer settles down
I poured away these almost clear cups of saltwater as I believe they are collecting manufacturing oils/ greases etc and that is what is causing the overflow to that degree

thanks for the reply steve. I tried what you suggested, and clamped the airline.. But that was only making the water shoot out even faster. I would let it run its course for a day or so like you said.. But I would have to be sitting by the tank all day, or I'd run the risk of an overflow..

sounds much worse than mine then aw1447
mine only filled the cup up 2 or 3 times which I poured away and then it stopped filling it up so quickly

when you release the airline, is the body of the skimmer filling up with bubbles? , skimmer should look almost milk white due to amount of bubbles in the body, if it is working properly

may be worth, turning it off, removing it, giving it a good rinse with hot water or even vinegar to clear away any oils from the inside of the skimmer and the neck/ cup etc
and then hooking it up and trying again

another option because I know the collection cup on these is small is to drill the top of it and run a drain line. I love these skimmers though once broken in they are good work horses.

Okayyy I figured out the problem.. For anyone wondering haha. I emailed the manufacturer and they sent me an info page. It had a list of chemicals that can make the skimmer go crazy, anddd epoxy putty was high up there, which I use a lot of. So hopefully it'll subside in the next few weeks with a few water changes.
