I bought this skimmer 2 weeks ago and I'm starting to get a little frustrated. I'm having to end up emptying the collection cup every day. And when I do empty it, it's a VERY light greenish color.

Raise the cup up and make sure the water level in your tank stays consistent. If the water level isn't consistent, you will have inconsistent skimming. Hence the pic.

Yea I raised it last night so the foam was half way up the cup to see if I could get a dry skim and woke up this morning to the pic in my first post. It seems that I just can't get a dry skim at all

With mine it seems to require some fine adjustment each time i remove the cup, do a water change or anything else. I set my level then come back to it about 10 or 15 minutes later and recheck it. Seems like some times it takes a few minutes to "settle in" before i make a final fine adjustment and then everything is ok. Its my only complaint with the reef octopus.

Like mentioned above require a lot of fine tuning. Buddy had one and when dialed in did a killer job.

You have to play with it, moving it daily, once dialed in though, it's a beast

I have the same one and it did that until I got it adjusted just right and I also have noticed that when I would do a top off with tap water it did it worse but since I have changed to rodi it works perfect

I have the BH1000 also and have found to get a dryer skim it helps to set the cup a little too high and then make slight adjustments to lower it if you are getting nothing in the cup.

Thanks guys. I set it higher and it's starting to skim dry. Just seemed a little too high to do anything.
