    Thanks Clarky

the blue one would look real ugly sat on the end of the outlet
so like you I decided against it, but will monitor the micro bubble situation and adapt if required

I left the black one in for now, but may remove that also as otherwise its something you need to remove and clean and its not it an ideal place in terms of being convienient to get to

    Skimmer now in correct location
at the back of the tank

started producing a decent amount of dark brown skimmate already
so the tank move took place this evening

Figured why not post an update about mine.

Personally I love the thing much better than the Remora I had, but that might be because it's newer.
    The BH-2000:
I like that the reaction chamber is bigger. I like that the pump is SO much bigger and more powerful. The bigger chamber and more powerful pump means more bubbles and better efficiency. I also love that the pump is on the outside of the tank. If I had it to do over again I would pick this same HOB skimmer.

    here's what it's pulled 24hrs into it's initial setup:

Steve, figured I would give my update here since we both set up our skimmers on practically the same day.

Im very glad you did Clarky

    that picture says it all
that shows how much more efficient your new skimmer is over your old one

I can fully understand you being pleased
    not just because its new
but because its obviously improved your water quality in just 24 hours or so

Impressive stuff gentlemen! I'm looking into one of these for my tank as I'm looking to upgrade from the inconsistency of my Eshopps. How much clearance do these skimmers need between the tank and a wall behind them? Also, water are your thoughts on the elite model with sicce pump? I like the fact that I could run a pouch of carbon in it if desired. The elite is the closest to the MCE600 IMO. Thanks

Hey Steve I think you'll like the Skimmer. I have the same one and love it. Also like you said you might want to take out the black sponge. It gets clogged and is a pain in the butt to get to. I took it out and put it up between the outlet and the back of the tank. It seems I get most of my bubbles from the splashing in the outlet elbow so this traps them.

Hi Nismo - you need just over 10 cm clearance between the wall and back of tank
the elite models look great to me and running the carbon in there sounds a good idea

    thank you pgoodsell
what I did was to turn the outflow elbow 90 degrees so it returns water along the back wall of the tank this means most bubbles rise and pop without being sent around the tank by the wavemakers which they did do, when outlet was facing forward
but the sponge idea is a very good one

Im running it on a 75 gallon tank Clonefarmer
its rated according to the specification for tanks up to 100 gallons
Im getting a decent amount of dark brown skimmate these days (carbon dosing) the cup / box has about 1 inch of liquid in after every 24 hours

    NB
the surface skim box attachment - if you get one and have a plastic braced tank, you may need to cut a bit of the box away so it sits above water surface allowing for that brace

otherwise you end up stripping the skimmer down due to fact its not working, and find a tiny sixline wrasse stuck in the pipe next to the pump inlet

so make sure those overflow boxes are above surface level and water enters via the teeth
