But I think your water level would need to be within 5 or 6 inches of the top frame of sump in order for it to be able to reach low enough

you could always extend the tube though and then add the overflow box to the extension

I reckon the distance from frame to water line is about 5 inches! So it should work great. I'll measure it to make sure.

 

yeah you would have to do a little modding

just one question, which are the skimming box dimensions?

 

How is the skimmer doing nearly a year later? I found a used one for sale and am thinking of buying it. (of course, anything is an improvement over what's running now!)

 

probably a bit late for this but skimmer collection box is 5 x 3 x 5

still working very nicely phocidae
removed it from tank twice to clean in out thoroughly during the time I have had it
it produces skimmate dark tea coloured skimmate on a regular basis
and I have had no issues with it as yet
