    Fix for Reef Octopus overflowing

    Hi there,
I had the same problem with my new reef octopus 4 overflowing and I managed to come up with a solution that works perfectly and you can adjust the height of bubbles exactly the way you want. I just think that the manufacture should have had this included in the design so you don't have to wait for the skimmer to break-in. Here is how to control the over flow, The skimmer comes with a silencer that has 1 or 2 air intakes; what you have to do is to control the amount of air going in, so in my case the skimmer had two air intakes and I installed two air control valves: I used the ones that is used for aquarium air pumps.
    1. So once you installed the air valves, fully open the skimmers gate valve; the one that controls the water flow.
    2. completely shut the air control vales that you have installed.
    3. now turn the skimmer on. You will see that there is no overflow because no air is going in.
    4. let it run a little bit and then very slowly open the air intake valve; you should open it half a turn each time and wait for the skimmer to adjust the bobble level.
    5. do this till you have the proper bobble height.
    6. then after a little while close the gate valve a bit so that your water level is at the minimum water level mark. Just keep it at minimum. With a little fine tuning you will see that this method works perfectly. After the skimmer collected some dirt you can fine tune it a little more, try to let more air in so that you can collect more waste. But now you are in full control. Good buy to overflow issue ;D
