I was wondering is there such thing as a reef safe eel. I like having diversity of life in the tank and I think eels are really cool. I have seen a spotted garden eel and the website that sells it says it is peaceful. Do you think this is true?

A dwarf golden moray is the only one I know of, and that's simply because they stay so small.

They're a bit hard to come by in the trade, and quite pricey.

    Still an invert risk though.

golden morays are the best eels for a reef tank. they are small enough to even be kept in a 20 gallon tank. they are not exactly difficult to come upon in the trade they are just extremely pricey. im talking excess of 300 dollars.

Well. I don't believe I will be spending $300 dollars on an eel, lol. That would buy me a lot of coral. So the answer is no on eels all together? Including this one?

So I did a little more reading and it looks like they do not do so well in the aquarium. People have a hard time feeding them from the looks of it.

Garden Eels are reef safe but VERY hard to care for. I have kept them but you NEED a species tank for them with an 8in sand bed minimum.
