    umm no you wont if you use a very fine paper like 200 grit and clean it well. You will intensify the mirroring effect though which make getting pics a PITA.
    And you're right, you don't have to scuff it up. You can just give it a clean and paint it but then you deal with chips and flakes that happen very easy.

    200 grit isn't very fine in my mind. 1600 is very fine to me.

    I personally don't see why anyone would scuff up their glass on purpose.
