I am in the middle of trying to set up a large reef system for the first time and have a question. I am looking in to buying another round of supplements for my reef tank. I see that Reef Complete from Seachem contains Calcium, Magnesium, and Strontium. Could I just buy this to be sufficent for covering all three suplements or am I better off just buying each supplement seperately instead of an all in one?

Also what other supplements are those needed most.....iron, trace elements? What are your brands of choice?

That's a fine product. Possibly you might need a Magnesium supplement too but you would have to test to know.

I use the SeaChem Aquavitro line, great products that can be dosed seperately and not overpriced for being a premium line. 2-part solution is good too, like b-ionic or c-balance to maintain alk as well.

I just use the bulk calcium, alkalinity and magnesium supplements from bulkreefsupply.com they are much cheaper (you're not paying for fancy packaging) and AFAIK are all that is needed for most people. I wouldn't dose anything that you can't test for. Any trace elements should be replenished if you do regular water changes.

    You don't need a lot of them, that's why they're "trace". :)

Here's an article about chemistry if you're interested.
