    Hello all,

    Previously I'd been using 78-81F.

I've been slowly lowering my tank temp, and it's been and 75-77F the last few weeks.

    Why you ask?

Because on a thread and about temps, I've I'm not mistaken, Limpit Ron ( A local reefer) stated he likes to keep his about 75F?
I figured if he could do it, I'd try. I think algae, most anyways, grows a bit better at higher temps.

My coral look as good or better, and things seem fine.

    Your thoughts on Temps?

I've seen swings from 77-83F lately with the large temp differential day to day....ugh Ohio. My house temp has been in flux as well.

Chiller keeps mine at 76-77. Corals sure seem to like the cooler temp. Used to be 80-81. I'd like some experts advice though.

Ive been keeping mine (or trying to) at 75 because I plan on keeping a potter's angelfish and one of the theories on keeping them long term is that they require lower temps. So far I'm fishless/coral-less and will be without a potters for another 4-6 months. So we'll see what happens.

I think it should be noted that higher temps increase the rate of metabolism in living things so it makes sense why you see less algae.

Thanks for the replies thus far.

Most threads about temps landed around 78-80, so I was just curious these days.

Hmmm, very interesting. I've never heard of this, corals liking 75°. When I lived in an old farmhouse, my first reef tank was a 10 gal nano. The house would get really hot in the summer. My tank would get up to 84° and my corals would explode in growth.

The average worldwide reef temp is 82. If you look at the fringes of reefs aren't they limited by temp? Just throwing it out there.
