I would like a test kit that comes with a case for tubes and bottles if possible. I have a hagen test kit which come with all that, so nice.. but I think the stuff sucks. I have been using individual API tests for CA and PH now - much better. API doesn't appear to have the kind of master kit with case I am looking for. Can anyone recommend something for me? Also opinions if I should just stick with API and throw it all in a rubbermaid or something fine too.

API has two kits that would almost test everything. They come in a little plastic box/container. The saltwater master and reef master. All you need to add is a mg test kit

you could buy a case with foam inserts, the pelican pick-n-pluck stays together very well. Without that the reef master and saltwater master kits by api would be the next best choice.

I don't think they are the most accurate but they are very easy to use and the price is good. Has anyone used Elos?

I don't know of anything that comes with a quality case for everything, there are some all-in-one kits that come in a cheap plastic box, but I'm not a fan of them. I don't think they sell as fast as the individual kits and are more likely to be older, but it probably depends on your area and where you're buying from.

My only recommendation based on recent experience with an API test kit that was reading really high, check the production date before you buy it (hopefully you're buying from a local store so you can check it yourself or hope the online store sells enough volume that they won't have a lot of old stock).

It's stamped on the reagent bottles as the lot number I believe. The last 4 digits will tell you the month/year it was produced, so make sure it's been produced as recently as possible. If you're buying a kit that's already a year old you might run into problems.

My API calcium kit reads 30-50ppm higher than other more reputable kits I tested with.

Salifert and Elos are the best IMO. I have used API and am now almost done converting to Salifert. My next NO3 and PO4 are going to be Elos though. I hear it is a better test kit for these two.
