I believe you should be fine. your setup is only 20 gallons. I think 130watts should be sufficent. My Pc is only 204Watts and im running a 55gallon. My mushrooms, zoa's, gsp and psp's are dping well with this lighting

I have PCs and have been running them for about a year now. My new T5s are coming. I should have gone with T5s to begin with. I ended up wasting money and time with a type of lighting that can sustain corals, but will not leave them as healthy as a T5 or MH set up.

    He's not lying.

For those interested. T5s come in 4 lengths. For the 30" tank (30" fixture), the actual bulb would be 22". There would be approx. 4" on each side of the tank without physical bulb above.

Nominal length: 24" Actual length: 22.173"
Nominal length: 36" Actual length: 33.984"
Nominal length: 48" Actual length: 45.795"
Nominal length: 60" Actual length: 57.606"

Thank you guys for all of your responses. I have a question for Reefsparky though. Could i go up to home depot or lowes and have a t5 light fixture made and buy the reef bulbs seperate? Like have them make the housing. would this be any cheaper than buying t5 from a reef lighting system? (if i wanted to, im probably not but just interested)

they actually have t5 light units for sale at home depot but I would be skeptical on them because Im sure their ballasts are not up to par and probably not good to keep around saltwater? JMO

I have looked and they are tempting, but I am instead saving for something quality which wont let me down..

+1 I would go with T5's, Ive been running them for a couple years now on all my tanks... Well worth it in the long run.... Shop around online for T5's, and you'll find an awesome price. You have to remember this isn't a cheap hobby, and if you cut corners on the most important stuff, your only going to get headache after headache... Take it from me, I traveled that road!

You could use any of the 3Reef vendors and build your own using a retrokit. That way it would be more to your specifications, and you'd be using hardware very close to what the major manufacturers use. Only downside is you'd be doing all the grunt work, but some wouldn't have it any other way. :)

the t5s at the home depot are not HO- high output, so they dont put out enuf watts. make sure you go with T5 HO fixture.
