So i did a DIY LED fixture but I dont have the right color setup and dont want to wait 4 plus months to get the parts/pay $150 to fix it up nice when I can get a nice fixture through u reefbreeders with little effort. However a few questions.

How is it that you can space the LED's that close together even with the heat sinks/fans?

I am looking for something for my 40 gallon reef, however it should at some point be sufficient for a 75 gallon whichI plan to upgrde to around the new year.

How do you mean close together? They are mounted on a circuit board, and actively cooled from behind by fans.

The leds are soldered onto a pcb board made specifically for the fixture. Think of it as one giant led star. It allows them to be placed closer, although I was able to space stars out at the exact same distance on my DIY version.

This is what the pcb + leds look like. (This is just blue+white)

This is what it would look like with stars.

I just read that in all of the DIY threads u dont want LED's closer than an inch together even with cooling. However these setups honestly look so legitimate. I am very interested. Will probably purchase one and use my DIY LED fixture to setup a freshwater planted tank.

What do you recommend for my 40 gallon 36" long 15"x16"? Bear in mind I am looking to upgrade to a 75 (at most) when I move a little after the new year.

One of the 96 watt or 120 watt value fixtures would work, 2 would provide better coverage, and allow sps anywhere you wanted. The LEDs are about 1" apart, to allow for optics.

I am not worried about sps as I never plant o end up keeping them. I am content with softies and a few lps here and there.

I am most interested in the 120 watt bridgelux fixture for now. Seems the best bang for the buck. Are you able to alternate/substitute a few of the LED's for other colors?

What does it mean by dawn/dust effect in the description? Wouldnt this only be applicable by manual dimming?

Do you know if the upgrade to 0-10V drivers is applicable with a Reefkeeper Lite controlling system? I currently have that.

We can customize the colors, but it will be a longer wait time. By dawn dusk, it means you can turn the blues on first, and off last, for an actinict effect. Yes, the meanwells can interface with the ALC module and dim that way.
