I understand driving them around 80% but 40% is kind of weird. Any ideas why they are doing this?

WOW!! Super nice!! I'd probably tone the blue down to that 12k also. Thank you for the pics. LED's are looking kinda promising.

This is a common practice to prolong life of the LEDs.

The driver is actually external..... I can ramp down the voltage to dim the led's

Sure if you really wanted to you can ramp them up. But honestly I have no desire and need to. The actinic is actually overpowering my phoenix 14ks blueness. I need to drop down to a 10k or 12k like I stated before.

Im simply using these led strips as supplements to my metal halides. They are not my main lighting to my tank. Ive invested in some great reflectors and ballasts as my primary lighting.

I also chose these over t5's considering what I had for my setup. Minimal room in canopy with the lumen max 3 reflectors. If I had more room I would highly consider going a 4 bulb t5 route.

The web is saying that one of these strip has twice the par of an ATI Blue Plus bulb w/ Reflector. This was an influencing factor to my decision.

Not to mention bulb cost down the road. Something I will not have to drop money on.

These are great and Im happy to have some new technology over my tank.
