    that is good lookin rock some peeps dont like it but i dont know why

    My biggest piece is the "shelf" rock front and center.

    ok so wait...thats all dead rock right?
    so will that affect the cycle of the tank because of no established bacteria living on the rock?
    Wouldnt it take longer for the tank to cycle?
    If you added all dead rock it becomes live eventually right?

    Sorry for the newb questions Im very confused.:confused:

    If it is all dead and no hidden life forms then it will not effect your cycle. To make it into live rock you will need to add some live rock into the tank which will seed your rock. So if you do not have any find a nice friend and trade him a piece of your new rock for his live rock:)

    Hey Bogie, where did you get your rock for so cheap? im in north texas and my lfs sells their dry rock for $4 a lb and live wet rock for $7 a lb? i know that some online places sell theirs for <2 to $6 a lb. i have a 96x24x24 tank that i need to fill and i only have 20-30 lbs of real live rock in my 55 gal that im going to transfer. I just need a bunch for cheap!

    What kind of stuff do people put on dead rock? grunge or something like that? and there was some other kind of product that turns the rock purple or paints it?? maybe kent makes it?? im kind of lost and I have heard of this stuff but its been a while. I ordered 80 lbs of this rock and just was wondering before i got it and put it in my tank
