Pretty harsh. Ive had nothing but great success with Johns advice. I mean what makes your advice any better ? Because you said so ? Not trying to bash you but theres no reason to say someone doesnt know "squat" because you disagree them.

To add to your question ... Personally it doesnt hurt IMO to go large and it will save you shipping or pet store prices down the road if you end up needing a bigger crew. Also from my experience Johns crews seem large but Ive never had a algae problem after adding it.

Really? the dwarf ceriths in my tank are the most active of all my snails. The stay on the substrate during the day, but as soon as the lights go out they swarm the glass.

same experience here pgoodsell. they are easily the most effective of my CuC.

IMO 50 FL Ceriths in a 29 gallon is way too much.

John knows what he is doing and is considered one of the local experts around here.

I have ordered three times from john! He is great to deal with and knows his stuff. The chiltons are very cool creatures. I would go for it you wont be dissapointed. He took the time to talk to me about the tank I was ordering for and I will say he made the tank sparkle.

Really mine are always active in my tank! I always see them light or no light! I was scared as I have about 600 of them in my tank but they kick butt exp in the tough to get places that the mexicans wont touch.

It's not harsh, its the truth. I wasted money on those stupid dwarf ceriths. I've never said John doesn't know squat. You said that. I'm speaking from personal experience. Their size and behavior does not make them effective cleaners.

Im not giving advice because of John or what i've read somewhere else. Its from observation. Saying someone is not very knowledgeable is not bashing them. Its simply not the truth.

1 Astrea or Florida cerith will do the job of 20 Dwarf Ceriths.

John at Reefcleaners is the way to go. VERY knowledgeable IMO. he'll tell you what you do AND don't need. he's one of the few sellers who said that i didn't need to buy something. on top of that, he's even a really nice guy! i'm expecting an order from him this coming tuesday.
