Hello, I am a long time reader, but a first time poster. I have been lurking around looking for advice for a long time, and this site is spectacular. What I love here in the community style helpful culture with the sharing of knowledge in the interest of helping others, unlike some of the very egotistic, aggressive forums you find on the net.

Anyway, I have been a fresh water enthusiast for 30 years, but I have been salty for less than a year. This tank has been setup since May, and I have been taking it very easy with the stocking. Yes, it is a 55 gallon (210 litres) which by western standards is considered tiny for two tangs, but by Indian standards, considered almost as big as the Bay of Bengal. Traditionalists may also snub my choice of background (I too wished I had a clean blue back at first, but I now like the liveliness of this one), but consider this, this tank also belongs to two future reefer kids that are 8 and 9 years old, so I have to keep them involved and excited with the hobby by letting them make some choices and decisions.

Each fish has a name (all named by the kids)
    Purple Tang=Mustang
    Yellow Tang=Sunshine
    Coral Beauty=Lady Fish
    Maroon Clown=Stripe

Yes, all the mushrooms and snails have names too but let's not get into that. I cannot keep up with them. Formally introducing the two tangs was an adventure in itself, but they are both best buddies forever....for now.
Since the photo, I have added a torch coral and a hawaiian feather duster. I'll update again with individual closeup photos of the tank inhabitants.

Cheers and great to be here. By the way, my reefing philosophy is simple: Do not get any creature I cannot care for, no loss of life is acceptable, and do not get animals that require special care or equipment for which the time or expense I cannot afford.

Welcome, my Bombay friend. Your tank looks good so far, but looks more like a 90g, not a 55g. What are the measurements( in inches if possible).
