Not sure what to do about the back. I had planned to use automotive tint to cover it, but I got too gung-ho about drilling and running the plumbing. At this point, I'll probably just spray paint it black.

Cool. I was hoping you had already planned for that. Would be a bummer to see it come up after the tank is full.

Another option would be drill another hole for a intake and make a closed loop. Than just have a return line from your sump go over the top of the tank. Still you would have to buy a another pump, but might give you more flow for circulation.

I hate to help you get in trouble, but I agree you should buy a new tank and drill it higher. You have put so much into this so far. Don't compromise by adding a closed loop and line going over the top. I also think rockscaping will be a bit limited with the return nozzles so low in the back. You wont be able to stack rock very high where they come through.

One question you might want to ask yourself is how much flow do you want in you sump? Than after splitting to 4 outlets will this be enough in you tank for the corals? The closed loop option will give you the ability to have enough flow without compromising your sump with too much flow. Also over the top return with a small hole drilled on an angle will be your best anti-siphon protection.
