I just purchased a Reefkeeper Lite Level 1 and it should be here tomorrow...

I was wondering what I will need to be able to control/monitor certain things like temp, pH, etc....

    Will I need a SL1 etc....

I know it comes with a PC4, and I'm trying to educate myself the best I can to optimize the functionality of this thing, but I'm looking for a few brief pointers...

    Thanks!!;D

The basic unit comes with a PC4 four outlet strip and an iTemp temperature probe. You can control 4 devices and temperature with those. The 4 devices could be pumps, fans, chiller, heaters, lights or any combination of the above.
With the iTemp probe you cand monitor the water temperature then turn a heater or fan/chiller on to heat or cool. You can also program the lights to shut off if the water gets over a temp you select then turn back on when it drops. You can also program in both an aduible and visual temp alarm at the same time.
You could control two controllable powerheads on a wavemaker function so they switch back and forth again in a time sequence you select. Or you could put your circulation and/or return pumps on the PC4 and use a feeding function to shut them off automatically at feeding time.
They have a lot of functionality for a $99 unit. Check out the users forums at www.digitalaquatics.com for tons of ideas and answers to common questions.

To monitor pH or control a calcium reactor pH you would need a SL-1 or SL-2 and pH probe.

Thank you for the help! Knowing what you know now, what parts or modules/probes would you suggest getting and setting up from the start?

I bought the Level 3 which i believe they call the Plus now. I added a MLC moonlight module and a couple extra light pods and have been happy with my choice.
The Plus comes with a second PC-4, an SL-1 and a pH probe so I am now maxed out on modules at 4. Thats fine though asi ahve everything I want hooked up or accounted for, MH lights, refugium light, moonlights, calcium reactor, heater, Koralia Evo 1400's and main pump.
