Well my first secret is I don't impulse buy any corals. I read their requirements and I pick a spot in my aquarium I think they'll be happy and leave them there unless a long time has passed with no signs of adjustment to my system. I study my flow by watching the food drift every time I feed so I have a pretty good idea whats going on in there.
Second I don't go messing around inside the tank unless it's absolutely necessary.
I change 20% of my water once a month.
I dose BRS Calcium Dihydrate and Magnesium. Make my own soda ash out of Arm&Hammer baking soda. I tried kalk for a few weeks but wasn't happy with the results so I went back to what I know best.
I test weekly to check myself. I keep my big 3 at 11/440/1450-1500. I don't worry about pH and only test that randomly just to see.
I use ro/di water that I make and have an ATO to keep sg at 1.025
My lighting is a Nova Extreme Pro 6X39
    combo is: front to back
    ati blue+
    ati 12000k bluespecial
    uvl 75/25 white actinic
    ge 6500 daylight
    ati blue+
I keep the splash guard crystal clear and clean it at least 2x a week.
71 gallons total volume with the display fuge full of macros to export nutrients. The sump has a smaller fuge with chaeto on a reverse light cycle.
That's about it. No ancient Chinese secrets. Just research, good maintenance and nutrient control. ;D

As usual I had to celebrate another month with new corals and this time they are frags from the tank of another 3reefer. There are 7 pieces total:
    Forest Fire Milli
    Bird of Paradise
    Bali Green Slimer
    PokerStar Monti
    Rainbow Monti
    Orange digi
    ORA Blue Tort
They all appear to have handled the shipping (well packed and with a cold pack), have been floated and are now drip acclimating. Pics coming soon ;D

A few new adds....no more room

Here's some pics of a small pack I purchased from 3reef member GuitarMan89 to celebrate the 8th month anniversary of my reef tank. This is it for coral in this build and that makes me sad in way. I'll frag a couple of the sps and put the frags in a couple empty spots. Plus I have two shelfs still open for a clam however I discovered juvy whelks in my tank and am currently sacrificing scallops in order to remove them. I think I got the last of them with the last sacrifice. lol

Bleached Poker Star Monti. It was a freebie. Hope it recovers and colors up! It's sad now because the polyps are yellow and all of the flesh is clear.

And the seller of this pack for me. The Bali Slimer. Haven't been able to find one local. The ORA Blue Tort is nice too!

    Hope you enjoyed looking!

Thanks! They are mine too. Should be a tangled mess of sps up there when they all grow out. :)
