Glad you found the missing pony with the added bonus.

For the babies you can try putting bridal veil material over the box you made for keeping the adults out.

    They grow up too fast

At feeding this morning I counted 11 babies and man they are getting big fast! With the oldest being just over a week they are easily 3/16" long now and too big to fit thier heads thru the screen on the OF. They are also beginning to color up and look like thier parents.
I love feeding times because that is when they all are the most active and it give the best opportunity to observe them. The biggest male Xerxes gave me the chance to see him exchanging water in his pouch which from research tells me he is most definately carrying a clutch again. His mate, Darius is never far from his side.
One concern today..with the flow shut off I can clearly see the entire tank very well. I noticed a baby crab feeding on one of the rocks. It's too small to ID but big enough to see that it is definately a crab. It's about the size of the white half moon of my middle fingernails. The disturbing part is that it is big enough to see it and that I'm pretty sure it's claws are pointy, black tipped lil suckers. I hope I'm wrong and that it's just a little emerald.

IMO NEVER BUILD A DIY PVC OVERFLOW out of anything smaller than 1"! No I take that back. Just plain never build one. The 3/4" diameter OF I built for this tank worked great for a few weeks then flow began to slow down so I was having to take it apart and clean it every other day. This morning I woke up to my return pump running dry, a flooded basement ceiling and wall and SG that is 1.021 because my ATO ran constantly as well trying to keep up with the water that was being lost. Typing this I just realize that PH was running dry as well only it wasn't making any noise so I imagine it burned up.
Oh well. I had a pretty good 6 month run with little troubles but it all began to backslide when some zoa's got sick. Guess it's just my turn.

aww that sucks! i don't like the idea of not being able to see inside the PVC. it would be a better setup with a PVC overflow that was made with clear PVC...although probably very expensive..

I just ordered an eshopps 300. Same OF I use on my DT. Honestly I'm about to just start selling it all off. My wife and I took about 1/3 income loss per month and are already bickering alot. Now this...

Problem averted. Thankfully nothing was seriously damaged and it all seems to be working o.k. I ordered an Eshopps pf-300 from Petsolutions, well my bait shop ordered it. Now just need to figuire a way to write it off. LOL

    Some upcoming changes...
I was still losing adult seahorses as well as the babies. I assumed I was doing something wrong with the whole feeding thing and the big ones were starving to death. It was getting confusing because I'd watch them eat and they seemed to get what they wanted and stop feeding on thier own. This time when I cleaned the PVC OF the plug was 2 dead adult dwarfs. After the wreck this morning was fixed I fed the ponies. While standing there for a half hour watching for another system fail I watched a full grown dwarf chasing bbs on the surface clear to the protective box. She then hooked her head to the top of the egg crate and pulled herself up and over. If I hadn't been standing there it would have been another one down in the sump. So..when Tuesday rolls around I am headed to WalMart and buying one of the 1.5 gallon kits and moving all of the remaining dwarfs into it. That is where they will stay.
Sometime down the road when the financial situation improves I'll add a pair of Kudas or Erectus back into the fuge.

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles. That is totally wild about the pony climbing the crate.
