With all the different types of reflective paints out there...ie...pearl, glass bead, metallic.....has anyone out there ever thought about using reflective paint when painting the back of their tank? Think it would help make lights more efficient?

Never thought about that. I did use reflective paint on the inside of the door on my stand to keep more light in my refugium though.. I guess kinda the same concept. Cuttingrass you rock. Congratulations on the video contest.....

You have to watch out for heat issues anytime you use anything reflective on the tank. I made a ghetto frag tank a long time ago using aluminum foil for reflectivity and I had all sorts of heat issues.

Maybe reflective paint might make you get a bit distracted. I dont have mine painted but if i were to paint it id choose a dull black or dark blue because it makes your eye focus more on the things in the tank such as corals. Post pics if you do decide to paint it.

from what I read it's best to avoid reflective surfaces for the walls of the tank due to the fact that this may stress/scare some types of fish.
