    how do you know which refractometer works for saltwater hobby?
    i have seen alot that says for fruits, wine, and etc..

    i am confused as to what to look for in a refractometer!!

    i found one of these RHB-32ATC for cheap, i was wondering if anyone know if this works??

    They all work off the same principal, what changes in them is the scale, or the card on the inside. It you don't get the saltwater card it will be useless for a tank.

    I won't mess around with it. Refractometer is precision equipment and any modification could effect its accuracy. You can find a decent refractometer on ebay for about $25.

    I would just get a cheap one from a reef store like bulkreefsupply.com and get the calibration fluid for it as well, you need to make sure it's calibrated appropriately.

    I got mine off ebay and it was like around $35.00....it works flawlessly.
    I dont know how I ever went without one!

    Just make sure it says for saltwater and you'll be fine!

    +1 on not knowing how I ever managed without one

    Ive upgraded to a refractometer from a floating needle hydrometer on 3 seperate occasions over the years (FOWLR conversions to reefs ) and on each occasion have found my SG to be higher than the Hydrometer was showing

    +1 on buying one from a reef supply store or LFS - get one thats designed for our specific (gravity LOL) needs
