how long do you leave your refug lighting on for? i have had mine on the same cycle as my DT, 11 hours on with some led moonlights for night but have read where people leave theirs on 24/7.

For the past week i have left my on all the time and have seen more algea growth. not necessary my macro just on the glass.

for those that use a refug how long do you light yours.

FYI: I use a single 6500k clip on flood light to light the macro portion of a 20 gallon long tank.

I run mine opposite my main tank--heard it keeps ph more stable. I also believe that all living things need a day and night cycle. Just my belief, no evidence to prove that.

I run mine 24/7. Noticed a big difference when I switched to that.

I run full spectrum sylvania 65w incandescent flood light in a $8 walmart aluminum lamp reflector. It's on probably 10-12 hrs a day usually when I remember it. My extra timer is still on my 10 gallon for the lights, but I'll use that timer for my fuge light when I break down the 10 gallon - after the inhabitants are gone and it's done serving it's purpose as my hospital tank for fish additions to the big tank now.

I run mine opposite of my MHs, so somewhere around 13 hours.

I was told that plants need darkness as well as light to grow healthy. Since algae is an aquatic form of plants then I guess some darkness wouldn't hurt. Saves a bit on the electric bill too
